Chris Needs Releases “Rollercoaster” Autobiography

Radio presenter Chris Needs will release his no holds barred autobiography in a special evening at the Grand Pavilion in Porthcawl on Saturday night the 3rd of November. Chris Needs is one of Wales’s most popular personalities broadcasting nightly to thousands of loyal fans in all corners of Wales.

For the first time, in the book titled Like it is, Chris Needs opens his heart on his troubled life. He tells about the horrific abuse he suffered as a child, being repeatedly raped by a “so-called” family friend and he also describes the homophobic bullying he encountered when growing up in Cwmafan, near Port Talbot.

Talking about his abuser Chris said,

“I honestly believe that the reason I am what I am today, a totally unhappy person, covering things up with comedy as best as I can, is because of him.”

Happier moments, hilarious anecdotes, celebrity friendships, are also charted on Chris’s journey to fame, which cover his many talents and guises; as accomplished pianist, vocalist and entertainer, showbiz personality, and charity fundraiser. His cult radio fan club ‘the Garden’ is one of the most popular in the country proving Chris’s popularity as one of the best loved radio presenters in Wales.

He also writes about the privilege of receiving an MBE in June 2005 for his services to broadcasting and charities.

"Like it is, My Autobiography" will be launched at the Grand Pavilion Porthcawl on Saturday night the 3rd of November, followed by a comprehensive signing tour of Welsh bookshops during November and December. The book is published by Y Lolfa, priced at £9.95 and is available on Y Lolfa’s website - www.ylolfa.com and most book shops in Wales.
